Where are Fera clothes made?

It's fun for us to picture where our clothes end up. Gallivanting in fields, rivers and the odd questionable pub garden. But before any of that happens, there’s a huge journey we've been on that people might be curious about: how our products are made. So here's a little about that and how are clothes come to life.

For a short answer, our clothes are designed in the UK and they are currently manufactured in China, Turkey, Spain and Italy. If you'd like to find out more, read below.

Designed in England

Every Fera product begins life in Bermondsey, London. Fera began in Wiltshire but we now have a studio in an old biscuit factory in Bermondsey where we design and develop each collection.

Our approach to design is simple: create durable clothing inspired by the countryside but built for everyday life. Something that feels as comfortable walking along a river with a rod as it does walking across a city to the pub.

The development process

As a small brand, product development is very hands-on. Beni designs all our products and we work closely with our manufacturing partners during the development process, going through multiple rounds of samples and revisions before a garment is finalised.

Patterns are adjusted. Fabrics are tested. Details are refined. This takes time and focus. Good clothing rarely appears fully formed. It’s the result of careful back-and-forth between design and production.

Where Fera clothes are manufactured

Fera garments are currently produced in China, Turkey, Spain and some accessories made in Italy. We work with experienced factories that are specialist garment manufacturers, helping us achieve the level of craftsmanship and consistency we’re aiming for.

Rather than chasing the cheapest option, we focus on working with trusted partners who can produce the quality our products demand. We have been building our relationships with these factory partners over the last four years and they understand the quality we expect for our products.

Why we work with different countries

Different regions have expertise in different types of production (the same goes with fabrics).

In Turkey and Spain, our partners help us create pieces that balance quality with careful construction. We are also looking into Portugal as a future option, as well as some knitwear manufacturing in the UK.

Our manufacturing partners in China also play a key role for us. Importantly, the price we pay for manufacturing in China is aligned with the quality level we produce in Europe. We work with partners who deliver the same high standards we expect across all regions.

The goal is always the same: well made clothing that performs properly in the real world.

Craftsmanship as a small brand

Fera is still a relatively small company, which means we don’t produce clothing at huge volumes. At the moment we focus on smaller production runs and carefully developed products, allowing us to work closely with our manufacturing partners and refine each piece over time.

As we grow, we’re continually improving how we design, develop and manufacture our garments. It's a continual evolution, especially as the team grows. Each collection gives us the chance to refine materials, improve construction and strengthen our relationships with the people who make our clothing.

Building a brand takes time. Good clothing does too.

Supporting nature with every sale

Where clothing is made is important. But so is what it supports. Through our Wild Share Initiative, we donate a percentage of every Fera sale to projects focused on nature restoration and conservation. Find out more about that here.
